HRAAY George Berger HOF

George Berger was posthumously inducted into the Hofstra Radio Hall of Fame in Spring 2023.  Sue Zizza and George Thomas Musgrave III spoke to me about their memories of George.

George Berger who served as Remote Chief at 88.7 FM, went to work immediately for WABC AM as board engineer and eventually became the station’s maintenance supervisor. He spent his entire career with ABC, designing and building their radio studios. He also designed and built compression systems, including a custom built multi-band processing system. While he did not invent multi-band processing, he did improve upon what already existed. Eventually George moved to TV at ABC where he helped to begin integrating computers into TV technology. According to Marc Weiner, George also won a technical Emmy for communications link between NY and Moscow TV studios he setup for ABC.
